Overview
- Seeking a Senior Attorney with 8+ years of experience to expand firm’s land use, zoning, permitting, and environmental practice in South Florida.
- Must be comfortable navigating local, state, and federal permitting frameworks, particularly for projects that intersect with environmental and natural resource constraints.
The attorney will advise on and manage matters involving:
- Land use and zoning approvals, rezonings, variances, and special exceptions
- Local government approvals before planning boards, zoning boards, and elected bodies
- State and federal permitting for complex development projects
- Environmental regulatory issues affecting development, including matters involving ESA consultations and NEPA review
- Strategic counseling on regulatory compliance, mitigation, and long-term land use planning for resource-based projects
- Zoning and land use approvals for industrial and resource processing facilities
- Permitting for material transport, logistics, and related infrastructure
- Environmental and land use approvals associated with reclamation, restoration, and long-term land use conversion of extraction sites
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 8+ years of relevant experience in Florida land use, zoning, permitting, and/or environmental law
- Active member of The Florida Bar and South Florida community
- Experience representing developers, property owners, or institutional real estate clients
- Familiarity with Florida regulatory processes and local government approvals
- Experience navigating environmental constraints affecting development (including federal environmental review frameworks such as ESA or NEPA)
- Strong drafting, advocacy, and client management skills
- Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with planners, engineers, environmental consultants
Preferred Experience
- Matters involving wetlands permitting, federal agency coordination, environmentally sensitive sites
- Work with agencies such as USACE, FLDEP, or state environmental regulators
