The Buyer is responsible for procuring inventory and non-inventory commodities that support Manufacturing, Engineering, and R&D. This role monitors demand, places and manages purchase orders, ensures timely material delivery, and maintains strong relationships with suppliers to support Company’s production and quality objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Review requisitions and purchase orders for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Place and manage purchase orders using ERP data, production schedules, forecast requirements, and established reorder rules.
• Monitor open orders and coordinate delivery commitments to ensure on-time material availability.
• Process changes to purchase orders, including delivery dates, order quantities, and pricing updates.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers when required to support cost reduction, quality improvement, and program needs.
• Review supplier quotes, evaluate pricing, negotiate terms, and recommend sourcing decisions.
• Collaborate with Planning, Production, Inventory, Engineering, and Quality to support efficient material flow and resolve supply issues.
• Analyze factors affecting cost, lead time, quality, and supplier performance to support decision making.
• Maintain supplier relationships and communicate Company requirements with professionalism and clarity.
• Track and document supplier performance metrics and escalate concerns as needed.
• Support new product development sourcing activities and early supply chain planning.
Qualifications
• Minimum 1–3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing.
• Ability to interpret ERP data and execute procurement decisions based on schedules, forecasts, and inventory rules.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic negotiation and problem-solving skills.
