Safety Manager
POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
The Safety Manager will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the safety, health, and environmental program at the project level. This person will perform safety, health, and environmental reviews at the project(s) to ensure implementation and compliance with company and government/regulated standards, conduct safety orientation training, inspections, write work plans, issue safe work permits, and perform other safety-related duties. This person will serve as a resource to the project team in preventing occupational injury/illness-related losses by establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities.
This role will be based on the project site in Miami, Florida and reports to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead EH&S functions on a project site

Perform safety, health, and environmental reviews of the project(s), including producing reports, conducting meetings, reporting findings to management, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented

Conduct daily site safety meetings and orientations as required

Partner with project management and trade contractors to ensure implementation of a comprehensive safety, health, and environmental program

Provide guidance and leadership to the project team

Investigate employee inquiries, suggestions, and complaints

Investigate accidents/incidents and near misses, including determining corrective actions and conducting post-incident meetings

Provide regulatory guidance (OSHA, ANSI, etc.) and assist with compliance inspections and related activities

Maintain required safety and health documentation

Conduct safety training, including site-specific orientations

Evaluate environmental health and safety-related risks

Promote a proactive safety culture by providing clear vision, processes, and tools that encourage an empowered and healthy work environment

Complete and maintain all safety-related paperwork, including OSHA documentation, equipment and fire extinguisher inspections, TRIR calculations, and incident reporting (Intelex)

Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in safety or related safety and health field

Minimum 5–7 years of construction safety experience with a general contractor

Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel

CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) or STS (Safety Trained Supervisor) required

Certified Safety Professional preferred

Experience with OSHA regulations and inspections

First Aid/CPR Instructor certification desired

OCIP/CCIP experience preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy

Experience with Intelex Data Management System preferred
